The stated purpose of our trip was to see the baseball game. Karen and Mom plotted unsuccessfully to miss the game for shopping or something. Notice the SF jacket - When packing to go to San Francisco, only one thing is required: An American Express card. The weather was either freezing, great, or hot. I suggest packing no clothes, buy them as needed corner to corner depending on the current temperature. |

Pacific Bell Park. This is the first year of the stadiums use. Accessible from the downtown district, the park is next to the bay - home run balls can splash into the bay (So far, 5 have- all by Barry Bonds). |

We didn't do any of the tours the park has, to many other things to do first - according to Karen: "Shopping" |

On our 'Ball Park Meter', Pac-Bell is rates fairly well. The wait in line for the garlic-fries was over 2 innings long, but otherwise it is a comfortable park. Its biggest problem is the seating angle -we noticed more then other parks the back of the heads of the people in the next row - in Karen's case she saw only the back of who could have been a double for Andre-The-Giant. |

Sky divers dropped in before the game, one landed directly on home plate. I thought it have been more impressive for him to have landed such that he was 'caught' by the giant glove - probably something about insuring a sky diver flying into a steal statue prevented that from happening. The pitchers were Hernández for the Giants against Maddux for the Braves. A pitching duel, the fate of the game came down to a single pitch from Maddux that the Giants pounded for a two-run homer. 0-2 final score. |
